New MD for Stannington

NEW MUSICAL DIRECTOR FOR STANNINGTON BAND

Stannington Brass Band has appointed Kevin Wadsworth as its new Musical Director.

A renowned musician, Kevin played tenor horn at the highest level with world famous bands Black Dyke Mills and Brighouse and Rastrick. He also played with such eminent musicians as Andre Previn, Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Edward Heath, and conducted world famous performers such as Nigel Kennedy and Julian Lloyd Webber.

He has tutored international music schools in UK, Norway and Switzerland whilst his conducting career has proved to be highly successful both in the UK and abroad with numerous contest successes to his name with leading bands.

A respected adjudicator and Vice Chairman of the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators he is in demand throughout the UK and abroad.

Stannington Band’s Chairman, David Woolley said “We are delighted to have enlisted Kevin’s services and look forward working with him. His depth of musical experience will be a much valued asset”.
