Prizewinners at Leicester

Two Sheffield-based bands hit the prizes in the annual LBBA contest this weekend at Charnwood College.

Stannington were narrowly beaten by Martin Heartfield’s Blidworth Welfare  Band in the First Section and Chapeltown under the direction of Andrew Dennis took top honours in the Second Section with a performance of Gilbert Vinter‘s classic 1969 composition Spectrum.

The prizes didn’t end there though. Stannington’s principal cornet Richard Dowling took the prize for best instrumentalist in the First Section and soprano player Alison Irvine for Chapeltown in the Second.

Well done both bands and well done Richard and Alison.
