Sheffield Youth Brass Collective

For several months now, the Sheffield Brass Network and Brass Bands England have been liaising with the Sheffield Music Hub to put together a new pilot brass ensemble for all the young brass and percussion players across Sheffield. It has always been intended that this would be an ensemble that welcomed as many young players to take part as possible, while at the same time ensuring that any alliances with existing bands remained unaffected. The Sheffield Youth Brass Collective will enable brass and percussion players of grade 3 to grade 8 level, and a maximum age of 18 years old to take part in this exciting event.

After much discussion and organisation, two rehearsals, to take place on 20 January (2pm – 4pm) and 10 February (2pm – 4pm) at the University of Sheffield Diamond Building on Leavygreave Road have been arranged, culminating with a special Music Hub gala performance at the Octagon Centre on 24 March 2019 (timings TBC).

All the brass bands within the Sheffield city boundary have been provided with all the information they will need to encourage their own young players to take part in this inspiring project, however this event is also open to young players who aren’t connected with a local brass band, so please use the contact details on the illustration above, or contact us at the Sheffield Brass Network to find out more if you wish to take part as pre-registration is essential.
